Macon Transit Authority, making improvements

Yes, maybe my last blog about Macon Transit Authority was a bit harsh.  But True.  Although I have seen some improvements, but much more is needed.  Specially if they want to increase the numbers of bus riders.  I still truly suggest that, the shot callers at MTA should sacrifice a month of their career to ride the bus, and maybe only then they will see the type of improvements that are much needed.

  • True, they have new buses, they are suppose to better for gas.  But they are not better for the elderly and others who have to step up on these narrow ass stairs they have.  Its just a lawsuit waiting to happened.  The steps are so narrow, that I, myself have a hard time getting on and off each time without having to have the worry that I'm going to fall.  But I do have to applaud them for thinking about the environment.  I think.
  • New Bus Schedule.  I guessed they read my blog, how I complained about some damn bus schedule.  Now, if the bus driver could just adhere to them.  and why is it that bus driver doesn't carry schedules.
  • Mobile App.  Maybe its too soon or too much to ask for.  But many of us riders to have a smart phone and do not carry all 22 pages of bus schedule with us.  It would be nice to have an MTA-Mac App for Iphone and Android users.
  • Benches.  A friend of my laughed so hard as we were passing by a bus rider, who was waiting at the Eisenhower Shopping Center (one of the busiest in Macon) sitting on grass eating her food.   I wished I had my camera.  This is exactly what I'm talking about.  I thought I would see more seats or benches but instead, I saw them depeleting.  What happened?  Why is MTA, Macon Transit Authority, doesn't see the financial reward of these benches.  What can be the disadvantage of placing benches throughout the city.  They can really capitalized on advertisement revenue. I bet you one advertisement would pay for the ad.  What kind of idiots do we have working at MTA?  No mercy!!!
  • Express Buses.  - We should have express buses.  You know, like the bus would leave from downtown and just stops at the Mall, Northside Mall, The colleges.
  • Email.  Take surveys.  We should have surveys and "How was my driving?" surveys in each bus to fill out.  That is a good way to get inside the bus riders.  And why is it MTA-Mac, doesn't have an email.  instead of me having to email my complaints, I have to post them to my blog.
I'm going to take pictures of the bus signs.  I saw some people who appeared to be putting up some new pole signs.  But Oh My Gosh, I would like my readers to tell me if you would stand next to these signs.

Anyway be right back with photos.

before I forget.  You would think MTA, would capitalized on the high gas prices and create a campaign to ride the bus more.

Library Downtown Macon

Decided to visit the Library in downtown Macon today.  I headed to restroom first so I wasn't paying much attention to my surrounding.  So when I got out of the rest room and started walking in the main area I quickly realize the update.  It doesn't look so boring in here all of a sudden, something is different.  So I quickly grab my digital camera and started snapping some photos.

never really paid attention to this sky light before.  but nice architectural design.

There seems to be more comfortable seating and some of these huge chairs have arm table that swives to the side out of your way and  back.  Love that.  I can place my netbook or books on top of it.  Now... if they just would allow adults to have drinks, that will be amazing.

Love that round table.

But thats not all.  I wanted to see if there were more changes.  I was stunned, as I was walking on the other side, they were having computer class.  And the librarian sneaked up to me to tell me its a free computer class.  What!!!  that's awesome.

Just when I thought I've seen enough, the next area, is filled with round tables that have a cross shaped divider in the middle to house four individuals.

The best thing about these tables, each corner have plug in prongs to power your laptop, tablet or cell phone.  Amazing!!! that is two thumbs up for Macon Library.

Just when I thought that Amazon Kindle Fire tablet and Barnes and Noble Nook tablet was going to put the libraries out of business, they actually stepped up and proved that no ereaders have been around longer than libraries.

A++ for Macon Georgia downtown library
Their location: Washington Avenue and Orange Street

Where to get free Wi-Fi in Macon?

1. Joshua Cup Coffee House 2.Panera Bread 3. Most of McDonald's Restaurants 4.Krystal Fast Food Restaurants 5.Starbucks - My favorite is probably Starbucks and McDonalds because they allow you to stay as long as you want without them giving you any hassle. Plus All the listing here except for Krystals have places for you to plug in your laptop for extra needed power.
