The Fresh Market in Macon Georgia.

I was literally dragged by my nose to this area.  Freshly brewed coffee, self serve.  I had to try the chocolate cranberry and I was amazed at the flavor.  It was soooo good.
I usually just come here for their fresh tumeric root and Brazilian ginger.  They are the only store in town that carry them.  Totally give the coffee a try.

Historic Tattnall Square Park

We tend to take advantage beautiful days such as today.  With all the rain and gloomy days we've been getting it was nice to see the sun out.  We grabbed lunch to go from a local Caribbean restaurant and decided to eat at the Tattnal Square park.

Curry chicken meal

It was good to see the park under construction.  They are adding a fountain which reminded me of the water fountain feature in Savannah Georgia.

They also added these column at the entrance

and I love this new organic swing.  Literally made out of just wood and ropes.

the park, as usual looks tidy and well maintained.

just another selfie at the park

afterwards, we watch the sunset and walked around the park before heading home.

Ottis Redding Park in Macon Georgia

I wanted to take advantage of the beautiful day today.  It has been raining for almost two weeks here in middle Georgia, so I was happy to see that the clouds have subsided and the sun is out.  Went for a walk and ended up at the Ottis Redding Park, to find that it is partially under water.

I found me a spot in front of the water fountain to catch up on some reading.
I am thankful for my simple easy life.

Git-R-Dun Laundromat - The best place in Macon to do your Laundry

Trust me, I've been to all of them.  This place doesn't look as modern as the rest of the Laundromat in Macon but they are the best in Macon and here's why:

  1. Customer Service is the Best - There's always someone there to help.  There's always an attendant and she's very perceptive and helpful.
  2. They still use the old, top loading machine, which to me are better than the front loading machine.  Why:
  • 1)  It cost only $1.50 to wash a load.
  • 2) When you choose hot water, it means hot water.
  • 3.)  No water skimping. (others skimp on water and does not get your clothes clean
They are still using quarters.  Instead of the cards that I seems to loose and never use all my money in it.

The dryer still only cost $.25 cents!

The attendee is always cleaning.  It's a clean environment.  The restroom stays clean.  and did I mention FREE WIFI!  and they have vending machine for drinks and snacks.

Magnolia Soap Box Derby Race

Unexpected.  I was on my way to the post office and took a short cut and ended up on Magnolia Street in downtown Macon.  I followed the crowd which led me to the Magnolia Soap Box Derby Race.  Wow!  it was a lot of people, certainly from the look of it ... it was a family oriented event.  Here are some photos.

I will be posting more photos and videos of this event soon.

City buses continue to upgrade in Macon

Although there are plenty of updating or upgrading to do, Macon Transit Authority continue to upgrade the system, even if it slow in growth.  A new bus stop is finally added on 2nd street and Poplar, much needed.  but I wonder why there are no sitting at this bus stop?   I hope they take lessons from Savannah Georgia.  My visit there last month, shock me in belief.  They were so many young people catching the bus, that I had to wait for the 2 buses to arrive, because that's how pack they were with students.

The bus stop was move in front of the Poplar Mart.
They seems to have no complaint with crowd at this bus stop.
But I heard differently about the restaurant on the corner of Poplar and 2nd Street.
One pregnant girl told me that, they wanted her to get up and not sit on the wooden steps that's build for their rear door.  Most people that stood awaiting for the bus to arrives always have something negative to say about this restaurant. specially about them being racist?  hmmmm interesting.
Apparently they didn't want people to stand in front of their restaurant while waiting for the bus.  But this bus stop has been here long before they were.  But just like every restaurant in downtown Macon, they will soon perish.

Where to get free Wi-Fi in Macon?

1. Joshua Cup Coffee House 2.Panera Bread 3. Most of McDonald's Restaurants 4.Krystal Fast Food Restaurants 5.Starbucks - My favorite is probably Starbucks and McDonalds because they allow you to stay as long as you want without them giving you any hassle. Plus All the listing here except for Krystals have places for you to plug in your laptop for extra needed power.
