The history of Roman Catholicism in Macon dates to a visit in the subsequent migration of Irish Catholic families in the 1830s. In 1841 Macon's Catholics received their first pastor, Father James Graham. A succession of buildings and sites was purchased and used by Macon's Catholics during the nineteenth century, until the construction of St. Joseph's Catholic Church at this location from 1889-1903. This Gothic Revival structure, designed by Brother Cornelius Otten, features a domed cupola, flying buttresses, stained-glass windows from Bavaria, and a high altar of Carrara marble.

Cherry Street Downtown
The above photo is on the corner of 2nd Street and Cherry Street. That corner cafe serves breakfast and lunch only. But you could sit outside and have your coffee or tea in any beautiful day and just watch Macon passes you by.
On my way to my bank one day, I decided to pull my camera out and just start shooting downtown Macon

More Photos of downtown Macon Georgia
These photos were taken while I was walking on 2nd Street and Cherry Street of downtown Macon Georgia. Downtown Macon is so photogenic. It has plenty of architectural buildings and plenty of Historical sites. This street is closed off annually during the Cherry Blossom Festival, which I hope to capture through my camera lense next year. I missed the annual Indian festival held at the Ocmulgee mounds. but I do have plenty of pictures of previous festival which I'm planning to upload in the future.
