Robert Brown, the first black state senator from Bibb County who left state politics to run unsuccessfully for Macon mayor, was found dead Thursday evening from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was 61.Authorities found a .32-caliber revolver in Brown’s hand after Macon-Bibb County firefighters broke through a door to get inside Brown’s home. Nothing was disturbed inside the house, authorities said.
I actually knew this guy, from working with the Georgia Informer Newspaper in Macon Georgia, I met a lot of people and one of them is the former Senator Robert Brown. Who really knows why he killed himself. Atleast that's what the authority are saying. Some say is because of health or maybe health and finance. or maybe is not a suice after all. But the authority have made up their mind that this is a suicide or self inflicted gun shot.
I enjoyed last night fashion show. I was invited by Tri'Chic Models Inc. They provided some of the Models featured in last night show. The night was filled with freebes from Dillards. As soon as you entered the show, Dillard's representative was handing out free gift items. I received this gergous Christmas ornament. They also had a wraffle drawing and the winner won a gift basket. Anyway. some of the special guests include Sonny Spoon, Mr. Walden, Dab's Cafe who provided some orderves and light refreshments, and our local news anchor Porchia Fox.
Below are some images I took of the fashion show.
I am an advent blogger. and I love free WIFI. Macon have quite a few facilities that offer WIFI and majority of them are of course restaurants. Here are my favorites.
1. Joshua Cup Coffee House - located in downtown Macon on Washington Avenue, next to the Washington Library and Collegehill Enrichment Center.
2. Panera Bread - they offer free WIFI but they do have a time limit if you arrived around lunch time. I think the time limit around lunch time is 1 to 2 hours or less. But if you arrived after their busy hours which is after lunch time, they offer unlimited access to internet. I love this spot because you can get a wholesome meal, unlimited refill of coffee and desserts.
3. McDonald - Gray Highway, Inside the Medical Center, and Eisenhower/Pio Nono Avenue McDonals offer FREE WIFI. The best one for me is inside the Medical Center. They are much cleaner and quiter.
4. Wendy's Restaurant - on Eisenhower Parkway. I actually like their burger's better than McDonalds, just make sure to bring a jacket or a sweater. It gets chilli inside. The restaurant is clean and the staff are super nice. And plenty of area's to plug your laptop for extra juice.
I remember when I could catch a bus downtown for less than a dollar, when I could get a gallon of gas for $1, and wash a load of laundry using four quarter coins, one dollar. Now a days I can't even get a cup of coffe for a dollar. The bus fare, one way ride cost $1.25 and for a transfer is $1.75. A load of laundry is $2.00 and a gallon of gas is over $3.00 and almost $4 in some areas.
The value of $1 dollar bill is becoming less and less. I remember a wise man once said, if you want the economy to crash, "Raise the Prices".
I truly like my area. Many places are literally just a few minutes of walking distance. Just like this laundry mat. My washing machine is acting up and the weather is starting to drop. I needed to wash some clothes and a warm blanket for the chili weather at night. The washing machines are coin operated. And there is no coin machine inside the facility, you do have to go in next door to the pharmacy, who would be more than happy to exchange your dollars to quarters.
What I really like most about this place is they are open 7 days a week. Even though today is Thursday, I really need my blanket tonight.
I snap this picture last Thursday in Macon, while walking after the rain subsided. Unusual but beautiful. It only lasted a few minutes and I was glad I snap these picture.
It's good to see Maconites are getting into more and more into biking. Not only its good for the environment, it's also good for your pockets and love handles. Macon is slowly but surely working on progressing the bicyclist community. I've been seeing more and more people on bikes and they are installing more bike zings (bikes parking lot). Now if they could just get the Macon police officers to pay attention to bikers, maybe they won't hit any more bikers, like they hit me during the summer this year. Yes, folks a police officer literally hit me while I was riding my bike, he said he didn't see my fat ass. Can you believe that!
Luckily I was ok and wasn't injured at all, my bike had a little bruise but I didn't see the severity of the damage 'till I got home, I guess I was too shaken up by the whole incident. Stupid me I didn't press charges.
Found another spot that offers free wifi. So you can have a meal and surf the net. Yes, Wendy's fast food restaurant, located on Eisenhower Parkway in Macon now offers free wifi. And if you sit at the very back they have a couple of areas where you can even plug up your computer for extra power juice. Make sure you bring a sweater. I was there a couple of weeks ago and it did get cold. The environment is a lot cleaner and quiter than their competion next door at McDonalds. Plus I actually like their burgers and fries, unexpectedly Wendy's have better fries than McDonalds now. and the burger is definitely much juicer and taste better. Anyway head to Wendy for your next meal and free wifi.
Where to get the best Tuna Sandwich in Macon? I would have to say Joshua Cup Coffee House. They really embodied the art to the Tuna Sandwich.
I finally got a netbook, not just any netbook but an HP Mini, since its debut from Verizon, I've always wanted one. But the price was alway so steep. Here's my take on my new netbook.
Question: What is the model of my new HP Mini Netbook?
Answer: HP Mini 110-3731 CL
Question: What do you I love most about it?
Answer: The size, the portability, the battery life, over 200 GB of space - lots of space to house my PDFs, Music, Videos, and Pictures. Beats any tablets so gar, edge to edge keyboard and ofcourse I love it because its HP.
Question: What I don't like about it so far?
the mouse - I guess while I type sometimes my thumbs gets a little to close for hover on the track or mouse pad and jumps while I type sometimes. Second thing, I'm not happy about, I read on the review on Walmart.com that you can't change the desktop wallpaper and it's sad but it's true - YOU CAN'T CHANGE THE DESKTOP WALLPAPER. Gosh even my cell phone I can change my wallpaper.
Question: What is my main use for?
Answer: Blogging. I'm a blogger fanatic and its perfect. I don't like to get stuck in house blogging, I do like to visit cafe, parks, travel leisure, and even on the go, like in the car and be able to blog. Crazy, right! But anyway, its perfect for that and I can easily check my email, how much I've sold on ebay, adsense and check on friends on facebook. I really do love this HP netbook. all thumbs up!!!
The day began as another usual September weather. The sky quickly darkened and rain pouring. Then all of suden I hear tumpling outside. I couldn't make out the noise so I looked out to my bedroom window and to my amazement, nickel size ball of ice is falling from the sky. It's hailing. And as quickly as the hail and rain arrived five minutes later it was as clear as day and another five minutes, it was hot maybe close to 90 degrees. And the rest of the day was as bright as any Sunny Day.
Vineville Baptist Church traces its history to its founding in 1891. They have a long and distinguished history as an anchor in the Macon Georgia community. Vineville has founded 4 missionary starts in Macon (Ingleside Baptist, Vineville North Baptist, Highland Hills Baptist, and West Highland) and still claims missions as a high priority. Recent activities include 2 international trips (Europe and Zimbabwe), along with a multitude of local and regional efforts.
They are Baptist to the core as they choose to maintain their historical ties with the Southern Baptist Convention, the Georgia Baptist Convention, and the Mid-State Baptist Association.
I needed to get to Office Depot today. and I also was in need of some serious walking. And since I now have my trusted companion, my whitmoe utiliy rolling bag, I decided to head for it. I took my time and I think it took me about an hour to get there from my home. (LOL) But it was a good walk. and as I was walking I snap these shots of Pio Nono Avenue of Macon Georgia
